I'am very interested in purchasing a Yorkie puppy from a breeder in the UK. I live in Bermuda and will be traveling through England in the beginning of August and would love to bring a puppy back home with me. If anyone could help me it would be much appriciated. My email address is lorirye@hotmail.com
Many thanks,

Well, do your homework before you come. That's hard to do from there. I would caution to stay clear of back yard breeders who do not do health testing on the genetic diseases of the breed, who only breed for profit. Try to find a reputable breeder. Here in the US anyway, usually with a reputable breeder the pups are sold before they hit the ground. I had to be on waiting lists for my Doberman. It took me about a year to come up with a good quality puppy. It was very frusterating. But, worth the wait.
Before I knew any better, I went to a back yard breeder for my Chihuahuas. One of them I don't think is even a purebred. He's 15LBs where 6 should be the maximum. His ears 1/2 flop. (it's cute, but not correct) He just doesn't even look all Chi. He's had patella luxation surgery on one leg and will undoubtedly need another on the other leg at $500.00 a pop. They also both have collapsing tracheas, which is common in many small breeds, so I don't know if it's her fault or if it could have been bred out. She bred several different breeds. She charged extra for the papers, which is ridiculous. The dogs were cared for all right, but I didn't know the questions to ask. You should get health test proof and there's a bunch of questions to ask. So, we live and learn. Temperament wise, my Chi's are wonderful...great little temperaments but I've socialized the dickens out of all my dogs. So it's hard to say.
I later read online through the AKC (American Kennel Club) website what to look for in reputable breeder. You can do that and perhaps someone here can lead you to some. Or if you can talk to some show people that know of someone. These breeders are careful who they sell their pups to and will ask you numerous questions. They want to know how their pups are doing all along. My Dobe's breeder still asks how her grandson is and we e-mail back and forth and I send pictures. She lives about 5 hours away in Montana. She also got word from another breeder, the sire's breeder actually that I was A.O.K. in her assessment after numerous phone calls.
Anyhow, start looking now. You'd be lucky to find a pup not spoken for if it's from a really good breeder. Good luck!
