I decided to cook a Spag Bol for tea, and made a right pigs ear of it........ it looked and tasted naff :(
So I decided to give half to the dogs today, and the other half tomorrow, now I've realised I'd put ONION in it, have I just poisoned my dogs or are they at more risk from my cooking

liberty :)
when theres spag bol leftovers our dogs have it, (onion included), as it is only a small dose the only side effect is foul and i mean foul wind

I give my dogs the remains of the spag bol sometimes - it also has onion in. They have never come to any harm - the amount of onion in it must be relatively small and cooked. I would imagine that raw onion is more dangerous and even then they'd probably have to eat a fair bit of it :)
Just how much onion do you put in ???? :) I usually use one large onion to 500g of mince :)
Daisy
I put a medium'ish sized onion in with 500g of mince. Tinned toms etc etc.

As long as I haven't poisoned them I can now looking forward to being in the <<windy city>> ;)
liberty :)

They should be fine, lib. Mine all get any leftovers, and I tend to add onion to everything, (apart from cakes, generally) and have never had a problem.
:)
Thanks everyone for putting my mind at ease, think I need a large drink now to steady me nerves ;)

Onion? Poisonous? Have I missed something? I've never heard of this before apart from any veg making nasty smells.

It lowers the Heamoglobin level in the blood SD. Although they would need to eat quite a lot, assuming they were healthy in the first place.

Thanks John,
So unless they start eating whole onions theres nothing to worry about then.

Put it this way, I would never feed onions but I would not be bothered about giving my dogs the leftovers from my plate which occasionaly included a little onion.
Best wishes, John
