Now that I am free from baby-sitting duties on Wed nights, I decided to visit the Ringcraft class at Wooton. Since I thought I knew where it was, I didn't bother to check the link given on here....
After visiting the very friendly Women's Institute gathering in the Memorial Hall, and then the short- mat bowls in the Sports Centre, and receivin some very blank looks when I asked about ringcraft...."ringcraft? dogs? not here....!!" I eventually twigged that I'd got something wrong...wended my way home and tried the link. The first time I got that wrong & the map showed the USA..... :D :D :D. However, my brain then kicked in....I copied & pasted the link and discovered I'd been in the wrong county....the class described was in Wootton, Beds, not Wooton Northants.....:-o. So, I'll try again next week & it'll have to be Roade, after all..

I was at the Roade Ringcraft last night, don't know about next week tho' as Hubby will probably go on his own. What dogs have you got?

Steph - I've got 2 labs, but the bitch can't be shown as she's had surgery for entropian. The puppy, Luke, is 6 months and I'd like to see if he has any show potential. What have you got?

Bulldogs - 4
My husband will be there next week with the puppies, male and female, aged 17 weeks. His name is Steve. Introduce yourself. My sister's husband will also be there with another of the puppies, Quinn, he's the noisey one. There might also be another adult bulldog there, Billy with his owner Mark. Chris and Sally, who run the class, also have Bulldogs which is why we go there. This week there were two rottie pups, two weim's, a couple of Saluki's (I think), an afgan, a basset griffonwotsitthing (maybe) , lots of frenchies, two black fluffy things, two dal's (one black one liver), a sausage dog thingywotsit, a sheltie/collie (not sure about this). So there's a pretty good mix of dogs. Obviously ther are others that go but didn't turn up this week.
As you can see from the above list my knowledge of breeds needs a little work. lol

Edit to add: Do you live nearby?

Steph - so can I just turn up with the dog? Fortunately I didn't take him with me on Wednesday's abortive expedition - I was just intending to suss out the situation! I live at Little Billing but we currently have the house on the market as we are looking for something a bit smaller now that we're finally "empty nesters"!

Yes just turn up with the dog (or without), pay your money and you're off. Sally even makes tea and coffee (included in the price). I believe it's a one off £5 registration and £2.50 per week, so your first visit cost £7.50, oh and an extra 50p per week if you take more than one dog. I hope that makes sense.
Steve's mum is in Little Billing, we are in Kingsthorpe. Click on my name and have a look at our website, it will help you recognise hubby as his picture is on there. ( and mine too).

Thanks, excellent website. Would there be any other complete novices like me, or is everyone very experienced?

Oooohh! Good question. Some very experienced people (well they look experienced!) and some complete novices. Paul, my brother-in-law, with the noisey, barky Bulldog, has only joined this week (although he did show Ridgebacks some years ago), don't really know about the others. We have been going for a couple of years, as has Mark with Billy. Our puppies are beginners, too even if we are supposed to know what to do, they don't yet. Just remember we all start at the beginning, I'm sure that Chris will point you in the right direction if you are not sure what to do.
If you are def. going this week I might come along, although I'll have to be home in time for Bad Girls (last week we didn't get back until 10). It starts about 8 and goes on until it's finished, appears to depend on how many dogs turn up rather than a definite time to stop.
There was a lady from Little B there this week with 2 black fluffy things - didn't catch her name tho'. Had a girl of about 8/9 with her.
