Hi Guest, It would be very long and drawn out if I were to explain everything in one go, so I'll tell you a bit, then others might also tell you a bit, and even then you'll not know everything, there's such alot to take in.

Championship shows are shows where it is possible to make a dog up to being a champion if you are very very lucky. The dog has to win three Challenge certificates, one from each of three diferent judges. Challenge certificates are only available from some Championship shows, and then again not all breeds have them at all shows. Some breeds don't have them at all. Challenge certificates are known as CCs, and are also called 'tickets' too. There are only a pair of CCs given at each show for each breed, one for a male and one for a female, however there are reserve CCs too. Thousands of dogs compete at Championship shows, usually over several days, although there are single breed Champ shows too.

Open Shows are a smaller show altogether, but any dog that is Kennel Club registered can compete, even Champions.

Anyone want to add more info?

Hi guest they dont mean anything except what you have said, you won a 1st a 2nd and a BPIB and a 4th in group. If you need some other sort of info, why not join and we will help if we can.

Open Shows do not offer Challenge Certificates
Championship Shows do for some breeds
Challenge Certificates are what you need 3 of to become a champion.

Did you mean points toward JW if you did go to the KC web site and download a form for the JW it explains it on the form. If you did mean JW points you would have 1 point for the 1st if there were more than 3 dogs in the class you won

Hi if your win and placings were at an open show there is also the Show Certificate of Merit which is based on a points system

CLAIM FOR A SHOW CERTIFICATE OF MERIT
A Kennel Club Show Certificate of Merit (ShCM) will be issued on application by the registered owner at the time of qualification, in respect of a dog that has obtained 25 points at General and Group Open Shows. A minimum of five points must be won in Group Competition. The scale of points is as follows:-
(1) Five points for Best in Show
(2) Four Points for Single Group Best in Show
(3) Group placings will obtain the following points:
1st - four points, 2nd - three points, 3rd - two points and 4th - one point.
(Puppy Group placings do not gain points)
(4) One point for Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified. (AVNSC Hound, Gundog, etc. winner of overall Best AVNSC).
(5) One point for Best of Breed.
(6) The title "ShCM" may be used after the name of the dog on show entries and in catalogues.
(7) Only points won on after the 1st January 2003 may be counted towards this award.
