Hi I know this is a longshot but can anyone help PLEASE!!, i'm trying to find the title of a film for a friends wife so we can try and buy it for her.

She recently lost her mother and is going through a bit of a rough time :(
I'm afraid its going to be tricky as she only has vague memories of watching it with her mum.

We think its set in the deep south and is about two girls growing up together one is the society girl and the other although brought up the same way is the result of a mixed race relationship which is kept secret.

I'm sure at some point there's a big double date and the secret comes out and the mixed race girl is beaten up by her boyfriend ( hmm sounds a good film to cheer someone up doesn't it )

We all remember the end quite clearly as the mixed race girl after denying her past all her life gives her mother a huge traditional deep south black funeral with a horse drawn parade led by two big black horses wearing head dresses.

If you can't remember the title can you try and remember some of the stars so we can try a google search.

This sounds like a film my mum likes - Imitation of Life (I think!).  It's a guess, so sorry if it's not the right one.  Only vaguely remember watching it and everyone crying at the end.
