Hi my 3 year old portugese waterdog has been diagnosed for over a year now with a very sensitive skin.
We found out through blood tests that he is deffernetly allergic to cats, fleas and dustmites! so we have no carpets down stairs where he stays and hoover the tiles and wooden floors alot!!
Leon has a raw and natural diet with evening primrose oil as well, but recentley his scratching has moved up a gear to wiping his bottom on a rug or carpet if hes near it and licking his paws.
Does any one else have these problems?a very fed up dog owner!!

HI i have a 3yr old shih tzu he has a skin allergy and am just about to start treating him via homeopathy it may be that your little dogs ammune system is a bit low and needs a boost he also sounds as if he could do with his annual glands secreted.

His annual glands ??? :)
theres LOTS of reasons for your dogs problem . You would be best returning to the vet.

Hi Guest,
We had an old border collie - x which done EXACTLY the same thing as your dog. We had to take our dog to the vets every 8 weeks for a steriod injection and also have her anal glands emptied because she scooted on our floors. Since that episode the vet aslo told us to put her on a low aalogen diet encompassed with primrose oil tablets. This did seem to take the edge off of it but she unfortunately had it until the day she died.

You say you did a bloodtest to determine an allergy to cats ? Did you not do the skin contact test ??
