Thinking of buying one of these health grills. I was thinking of getting one with removable, dishwashable, grillplates. Will be cooking for 3 people at any one time so it doesn't need to be particularly big.
Does any of you have one? If so do you use it or is it relegated to the back of the cupboard?
In the past I have had a sandwich toaster with fixed plates and I found it really difficult to ensure it was clean.

My daughter bought one seemed to her like a good idea - guess where it is now, thats right back of cupboard.
Never used one myself but don't see the difference in those to usual grilling and I find the advert showing the fat running out into a makeshift container off putting. Why not design one with a built in drip tray in the first place? Maybe there are some with that feature.

Hi Ailsa,
i bought one after my hubby blew up the oven!! and it has been fantastic. they are so easy to clean and even though we have bought a new oven i still prefer to use it. we have had ours for about a year and i would recommend them to anyone - they cook meat really quick and will even cook meat from frozen! and they are dead easy to clean.

I have one which I use regularly much quicker than ordinary grilling .Also very easy to clean even after my kipper has forgotten to clean up after his late night forays into the kitchen :) Gillian

Ditto to the above, I have very rarely used my ordinary grill since I bought one - much easier to clean than all that palaver of baked on grill pans.

My mum has one that she uses all the time. She got the big one that can be used as an outdoor barbeque as well. She gave me her old one (18 months ago), but as I can't cook, I haven't tried it yet! :D She loves it tho and cooks everything from meat to fish and veg in it.
Can't cook or won't learn how to cook Earl??
Just watch that cookery programme that is on in the afternoons where people take in £5 worth of food and the chefs make something wonderful out of it. I get no end of ideas from that and come up with some weird and wonderful concoctions. If they use one ingredient and I don't have it just substitute something else, for instance - no bacon - try oranges instead!

Must make for interesting sandwiches! Grilled oranges and HP sauce ........ hmmmm, no, not for me thanks :D

Ermmmm, can't!!! Have tried loads. :D Now don't make anything with chicken as it comes out like tasteless rubber. Seem to have more luck with mince - can make chilli AND bolognaise! Thinking of trying my hand at lasagne soon, just can't remember how my friend told me to make it - I know you make the bolognaise sauce and then layer it with the pasta strips and white sauce - is that it? Oh yeah, and a sprinkling of cheese on top.
And some of us have to work you know!!! Can't spend the afternoons watching Ainsley Harriot (sp?) and improving our cookery skills!!! :D :D

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like the majority of folk who have posted find the health grill a useful appliance. So will give one a try.
I was given one, used once - awful, waste of space - going for jumble.

The George Foreman range seem to be the most popular - I have friends who are so hooked, they have one of each size.
I'm tempted, but haven't managed to pursuade OH yet, and he's the one who does the cooking ;-)
