My Greyhound gypsy was out in the garden earlier, I was fiddling about with the mower and she was chewing her toy. She got up and suddenly seemed very uncoordinated on her right side. Both her right front leg and back leg are wobbly and she seems to be taking very exagerrated steps :( :( . Now she is led down looking very depressed and is not wagging her tail, not even when we approach to make a fuss of her which she always does. I'm probably going to take her to the vets in about half an hour. Could this be a stroke? Help. Why do these things always happen on sundays and bank holidays?

Thanks

Hello chaliepud, thank you for your concern. I took her to the vets and they think its a clot on her spine :( she has had an anti inflamitory injection and has to go back tomorrow. The vet said hopefully she should make a full recovery as we took her straight away, if we had left it till tomorrow the damage could have been alot worse. Poor Gypsy is feeling very sorry for herself, we are making sure she has lots of cuddles which she is just loving :) of course food is still her main priority :) . I think the cause of her injury was playing in the garden about half an hour before her legs started to wobble.
I'll give you an update tomorrow, fingers crossed she will be ok.

Ahh thanks for that, we feel so gutted especially as she's just settling in nicely and is starting to act like a "normal dog" playing with the others and enjoying her retirement and cos it was me that was playing with them in the garden in the first place :( :(

Just to update, we took her back to the vets this morning and they gave her some morphine and xrayed her. The vet thinks it is in her neck but nothing has shown up on the xray. They are referring her to an orthapedic specialist and hopefully we will get an appointment this week :( . Poor girl, I'm wondering if this might be an old injury from her racing days which has been triggered off. She has always been quite stiff. O/H has gone to pick her up now.

I hope she is OK. Recently Lola took an overdose of Rimadyl. We had a few traumatic days worrying about her so I know how you must be feeling. I'll keep fingers crossed.
