Hi folks
can you tell me something?
I feed my staff on Beta and she loves it, her coat is the best i have ever seen it and she is super fit.......BUT she poo's for england!! (about 4-5 times a day)
I have been told that Burns is the best and am now unsure what to do.

Advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Emma :)

If she eats it & looks well on it, why change?    Burns, is a good food, but it doesn't suit every dog.   My youngest dog didn't do well on Burns at all.

thats my dilemma, is 4-5 times a day good? or excessive?

Hi my lab is on Beta, he is fine loves it and has fab coat and he poo's about 4 times a day, i only put him on Beta a few months ago before that he was on Bakers he poo's about 4 times on that too.

i used have fed bakers in the past but that made her poo even more, i'd clean the garden and when i had blinked it was everywhere again !!, not going to feed that again!
she looks fab with the beta and she is great in herself too, but alot of people say its not a good food for them, and i don't know how many times for poo is normal, especially after the bakers episode! ;) we have a dog flap so she can go out into the garden whenever she wants, and she also 'goes' when we take her for walks too

As lily munster said if she is well and happy on it why change it, I wouldnt say 4/5 times a day was excessive.

Pooping that much means she is not digesting/utilising all the food,it goes in one end and straight out the other with no time for her body to absorb the nutrients, which usually happens with grain heavy foods!By all means if your dog seems to be doing well on beta then keep her on it.I would be worried if my dogs pooped that much
You should do a little experiment, change over to a premium food or do homemade for 1 month and i betcha she will only toilet once or twice per day,i can guarantee it ;) Or you could supplement with digestive enzymes, they will suck up as much nutrients that is in the food.

Let us know what you decide to do,i would be very interested in the outcome :)

Oh by the way,my dogs poop once sometimes twice a day.

Ours are on pedigree, they poop once in the morning, then at lunchtime, then and tea time (early evening) and then at night!  Do have one that only poos twice but always BIG poos and another that can poo up to 6 times but always poos tiny little amounts each time!!!!!

So as long as his not doing 4 VERY LARGE poos then I wouldn't be worried, and I wouldn't change a food if the dogs where doing well and being happy on it!

Hi Emma, I've tried beta and burns and burns is definately the best, they have about 3 poos a day.  They also have vegitable peelings and leftovers mixed in :D :D.  Incidentally I used beta when I had a litter of puppies and it made their poo like tar it was disgusting.

My dogs on Burns did cow pats so if your dog is doing 4-5 firm poo's a day, just go with the flow.   Curtis on Burgess Supadog Fussy has a far better bowel movement than he ever had on Burns, it's a tenner less in price & he's put a bit of weight on!

I brought both my collies up on beta puppy and they loved it.They seemed to be alright with it.Is it new to the dog if so the dog could just be adjusting to the new food in it's body.sorry if it's not all the information you want.

she has been on it for about 8 weeks so fairly new, I will see how it goes as she looks so good in herself on it :)
