A little acvice please. Have just received my first show schedule with no seperate bullmastiff class. Ruby is 10 months and I don't know whwether to enter avnsc, which only has a junior class, or avworking, which has a puppy class, or whether I can enter both. Grateful for any help. Thanks, Sam.

I would enter both and view them as training classes like you do at ringcraft.

Don't know if it makes any difference to you but If you enter AVNSC and win best AVNSC/AVNSC PUPPY you qualify for best in show/best puppy in show.If you enter AV working you don't.

Think you do if you are an unbeaten puppy.

Any idea why...seems unfair that you can't qualify an adult but you can a pup.I always enter AVNSC with mine if theres no breed classes.Only time I didn't Asa got BAV Hound...and the steward politely confirmed that I knew he couldn't go into the group.

Think if the show is on group system and there is a, say AVNSC Hound, the you must win best puppy in the AVNSC hound to go into group. But is is is not on a group system you do not have to enter the AVNSC any class will do if you remain un-beaten. Even adults can go from AV class if there is no NSC or breed for them. If the AV classes do not have a challenge as is often the case then the winner of all the AV classes can go into BIS providing they are not beaten. Groups can only have one of each group in them BIS at a show not on the group system can have any number of a breed in the ring.

Should read But if it is not on a group system.
The forum system let me change it but then would not accept the changes.
If a breed class does not have a puppy class you can put the pup into AV puppy but for some reason you can't do it with an adult even if the only class classified is Open.

Im in Dachshunds, and we suffer from this a lot.
If a class is an avnsc class, the winner if unbeaten can go to the group or BIS. If an av class, it doesnt. That is why shows who dont classify all 6 dachshund breeds, will often do an avnsc dachshund - people just rarely enter av dacshund. Whats the point in it if you cant go through to the end.
Jack Peachey clarified this in dog world a few months back.

you can enter both, as there is no puppy class you can go in just AV working and I beleive if you win this it entitles you to the group BUT ONLY PUPPIES!
I am not 100% sure on this so don't take my word unless a smarter person comes along and says yes or no!!!!
