Hi, I have two collies 8yr old and 6yr old. Becky the 6yr old has had pups and we are keeping one.Lassie the 8yr old keeps growling at the puppy she might be putting her in her place or being bitchy.what do you think it is?Will three bitches be bitchy to each other?

It's impossible to tell without actually seeing the dogs interacting over a period of time - and even this may change as the pup matures.  Many people do keep several bitches together successfully, I currently have two unrelated bitches, but the closer the relationship, the more the liklehood of problems as resources are equally valued by both bitches through learning.

you would have to see when u try them together.

In my experience the litter sisters are the ones most likely to fight in the future.

But they get on really well.

Kirsty they are only 5 weeks old at the moment aren't they!!!!!

Yes, but they're only tiny at the moment. Once they reach puberty it is likely to be different. Two bitches of such equal status (same age etc) have been known to fight so seriously that the only way to prevent the death of either is to rehome one.

Kirsty i kept two litter sisters and they were fine together slept, played and ate together for seven months then out of the blue one day they started fighting, this went on nearly everyday for a week. Then a few days later they had another fight where they really hurt each other, and i had to rehome one of them. After that fight they could'nt even look at each other without wanting to fight. I would'nt advise anyone to keep two litter sisters  Doreen
