I feel terrible my mum has been knocked over and i am 300 miles away, she is ok, but was knocked out for a while, she was taken to hospital and nothing broken, she is getting some lovely bruises, where she lives there is miles of cycle tracks, she was biking to work and there has been a lot of diggers around on the tracks and they have been laying pipes for gas etc, so one of these diggers was trundling down the cycle track and mum was behind on her bike , and the digger slowed down and pulled up onto some grass, mum started to slowly come around him on her pushbike and two kids came from infront of the digger around a corner on the wrong side of the road on a moped, all she can remeber is the moped wheel going over her, and then people saying are you ok are you alright, and she said someone was picking her up, she said they said to her who was picking her up get there names, and she can remember saying to the two young lads, need your name etc and they would not give it to her and when the person who picked her up tried to get the licence plate his passenger put his feet over the plate so they could not get it, mam can't remember getting to hospital, and her bike, the lady who picked her up took it to mams home and gave statement to the police, the police have a good idea who it is as they have had complaints about these two boys, they speed up and down the cycle tracks without helmets on, they have no road sense, i think i feel bad as i can't get down to see her , and she is funny because when i spoke to her she said, you know what it is it is true that when your parents get older the children do start looking after them.
thanks for letting me get this off my chest

Carol, what an awful thing to have happened. I'm glad your Mum isn't badly hurt and I sincerely hope the police catch the little toerags that knocked her over, and deal with them properly when they do catch them! It's a shame you can't get to see her, but she'll know you are thinking of her and that you would be there if you could :)
Encourage her to take it easy for a while and go and pour yourself a nice big glass of wine :)

Why not send her a lovely pressie to let her know how much you care, although I'm sure she realises you do :)
I received some chocs from my Son's girlfriend recently just as a small thank-you for having them stay with us for a hol. it was so unexpected and such a lovely gesture,I'm sure something similar would perk your Mum up a bit whilst she is recovering from such a nasty shock!

Hi Carol - sorry to hear about your Mum - but you know she is in one piece!!
Send her a nice bottle of wine & some chocs, to keep her going until you can get to see her - and try not to worry about her too much - she will survive you know - after all - she has brought you up :D :D!!
Seriously though, I do hope the police manage to trace the two youngsters who caused this accident - try publicising it through the local press - people will know who they are, and hopefully, someone will let on.
Hope mum gets better quickly - and that you can see for yourself that she is!

Sorry to hear about your mum...hope she feels better soon.
I know what its like living so far away .My OH and myself live in Greater manchester...his mum lives in Devon,my mum lives in Kent and his kids live in Essex...hard at times like this isn't it
All the best Archer

Like metiond although you must feel really bad about being so far away I am glad she is ok and the hooligans must be caught!!! I hope they are. why not send a nice boxs of chocolates, or even a bunch of flowers, something that proves you do care and so your mum just has something, it will be unexpected.
It was lovely reciving a bunch of flowers when I helped someone out and i didn't expect it, same as I helpd another person in weims out (all I did was run her dog round the ring because she couldn't due to a major accident) and I got chocolates and a weim Badge!!! Didn't expect it and I am forever grateful. I really is worth sending something down!
