I have just had a stupid conversation with someone. They have bought the puppy of their dreams that they have waited a long to for, a GSD, and all they now want to know is how they long they have to wait until she can have puppies. They were told on her second season. Not being my breed I did tell them that she would need hip scoring and had to be over a year old for a good result and there were probably other tests as well. But why didn't they just enjoy her for what she was their "dream puppy". They said they fancied doing "a little breeding".
I will help anyone who is sensible but these people made me gob smacked by their comments. They won't listen and a women down the road has a very nice dog who is going to be their little girls husband.
I don't think you have had a stupid converstion with someone. You have had a conversation with someone stupid - same words you just got them in the wrong order :)

Brill! :D
The point with this couple is they did all the right things. They bought the books and read up on the breed spoke to brreders and even visited some and have bought their puppy without papers because they got £100 off the asking price.

Reading about a breed does not make them sensible people, nor does it equate to doing the right thing before buying a pup. Perhaps they think breeding will be "fun" and maybe they think they can make some money out of it. Saving £100 to get a pup without papers sound pretty money oriented to me. I wonder if their pups breeders had made sure their bitch and the studs had good hips and that both were of sound temperament. They sure don't sound like a sensible couple to me.

well if the scrimped on the cost of the dog by choosing NOT to have papers because it was cheaper will they also scrimp on things like health checks prior to breeding and scrimp on the pups too ? :(
