I have begun a search for a companion to my Cairn - looking for a small, lively dog. Today I made a few calls about Boston Terriers via the Breed Club secretaries and low and behold have found one that seems ideal. He's a year old, said to have a lovely personality, and has to be rehomed because his owners' have new jobs that take them away from home most of the time. (His first owner was the brother of the breeder.) He was rehomed once with someone who has a Chihauhau, but he's playful and flattened the smaller dog -- which worried the new owner so much she gave him up. He's been in a "foster home" now for three weeks. He gets along well with other dogs, even dogs who do not like other dogs seem to like him, he is housetrained, even uses a cat flap, loves toys, loves people and settles easily into new situations.
Both his parents were tested for juvenile cataracts and are clear. He has a retained testicle, so he will need to be neutered, which I do not mind.
My concerns are about eye injuries. Boston Eyes are prominent so they are more prone to injury than other breeds. I guess I'm worried about my Cairn, Abby, injurying them accidently.
The other thing I'm worried about is the foster carers (who show Bostons) say that he "snorts and chortles" a bit like all Bostons. I had a Boston many years ago who did not - and I have only spent a bit of time watching them in the show ring and did not notice any chortling.
I am going to see him on Saturday and already I'm giving myself lectures NOT to agree to take him on the spot. :-) Head over heart and so on, but I am weak and most likely will bring a crate with me.

I've got 4 boston terrier's great lil dogs. They all snort or do the backward sneeze as its called, all normal. My bitch Tiva snorts more then the other three because she has alot more bulldog in her, where the other 3 have alot more terrier in them. They are active little dogs, atleast mine are :D. As for the eye's it just depends how bulgy they are, Tiva has pretty bulgy eye's and the other 3 have smaller eye's they don't stick out as much. I haven't had a problem with mine at all and they play pretty rough together till Tiva tells them all off, she lets them know when enough is enough. They do snore when they are sleeping, one reason why Tiva know longer sleeps in our room she kept me up :D .
The little guy sounds very lovely, so sad he has been shipped around so much :(
Good luck and I hopehe's the one :)
I'm bias I love boston's
