Hello
Can anyone recommend a business/friend they trust that would take my 12 month old Vizsla into their own home and treat him aswell as they would their own whilst I go on holiday for 2 weeks? It would be at the end of May/beginning of June. To be honest I will adjust my holiday to suit, as long as my boy is comfortable and looked after. I live on the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire so will travel.
He needs to be with someone, with or without another dog as he is well socialised, lively and loves to be kissed and cuddled. He loves walking and likes cats, but is better if the cat can hold its own as he can torment a little if allowed.
Please, please help as it would break my heart to put him in a kennels whilst I go away enjoying myself with him stuck in a cement box - he does like his luxury and I would like to keep it that way.
Thank you.
Ali
I think you should consider a professional petsitter who will stay at your home and care for your dog there. There are many professional companies, with references, insurance etc.

What about asking the breeder, whom you got him from. I know a few that take their dogs back whilst owners go on holidays.
Just a thought. :)

How much do you pay someone for staying with your dogs for a week

Hi
We looked at someone coming to look after our 3 cats and Iguana and they wanted £700 for 2 weeks. In the end I asked a friend as the company were only going to come and visit the animals once a day briefly.

OMG my friend is coming to stay for a week to look after my two dogs & I thought £100 would be ok. Now I'm not so sure. What do you think

I compleatly understand of not wanting to put him in kennels but if i HAD to leave my two i would kennel them. With you living near derby have you thought of using Barkingham Palace. I had to use them last year and they were really good. They went out for two walks fed them to my timescale and i was worried about them not weeing during the night and asked them to let them out to have a wee at about 8 pm which they did - they even took them out on their leads to the nearest tree. My two are really pampered and i never thought i would kennel them they even come on holiday with us but at least they are well looked after and fully covered in case of an accident. From 12 pounds per night its worth it as they are clean and really friendly. I did look round at different kennels that were cheeper but at the end of the day cheep is not always best its the quality of the kennels and how friendly the staff are so before you rule this option out have a look. If i can put my two in anyone can lol ;)
Hi Ali,
Don't know if you would be interested in this
place or how near it would be for you but have a look.
Kind regards,
Linda
I pay my neighbour £10 a day to look after my 3 springers .Mind you he only has to walk 3 doors down.He cleans them out twice a day takes them for a walk and feeds them for that.I was willing to pay more but he never takes it.But we do bring him back a really nice pressie and some duty free booze as well. It would cost me £16.50 a day to put the three of them into kennels.
The cavaliers go to my mums so I don't pay diddly squat for that as she sees it as a treat to have them.
