I've read past threads about the Show cert of merit and looked on the kennel club website but am still a little confused.  Can someone just clear up one or two queries.   Is there a time limit to obtain the 25 points - as in JW.  Does there have to be a minimum number of dogs in the class.  It's very difficult with my breed as we never get many dogs in each class eg at the last open show we were the only beagle there.  Does winning an AV group count towards points ?  Or is it just AVNSC?

Have to get BOB or Best AVNSC not just win your class so no av doesnt count
You do still get a point if you are the only beagle in beagle class and consequently get BOB.

Thanks Gillian - one last question - is it just for adult dogs ie from over 18 months?

Hi puppy group wins dont count but if a puppy goes best of breed and places in the full group they count. For example say on a good day you got beagle bob  you get 1 point then maybe you go onto get hound group 2  you get 3 points and say you get puppy group 1 you can't claim points. :) Gillian

If you go back to the KC site and click on "download forms" there is a form of claim for a ShCM.  That has all the details on it and can be printed off for reference.

Just needed to clarify my last posts only meant you couldn't claim any points for getting placed in the puppy group the other points could be claimed .

5 points have to come from group placings or higher!!!

in other words a minimum of 2 froup placings or a BIS!!
