Been thinking about getting a cordless/wireless keyboard and mouse (seem to have wires everywhere at the moment !). If anybody uses them I would really appreciate your comments.

We have them at work.  They walk.  They hide under papers and occasionally throw themselves in the bin (the mice not the keyboards).  Stick with the lead..... at least you can always find the mouse by following it!

I'm using an optical mouse and find it great,one point worth mentioning though is if you buy one make sure it fits your hand comfortably! The first one I bought was fine for me,but hubby and son both had problems when playing games on here,they kept clicking the buttons when they moved the mouse around and got very frustrated by it :D

This model works fine for all of us and if you replace it in the charging unit there shouldn't be a problem locating it ;)

Younger son has cordless mouse and keyboard combined and says he works fine with it,he's just finished a 4yr. computer science degree and is now on a pHD course where he uses computers daily,so he has given them a thorough testing.

I used cordless mouse and keyboard for a while, but the batteries last about 2 weeks if you're lucky, so I've gone back to my microsoft optical mouse and corded keyboard

I have a cordless optical mouse and keyboard with no problems.  I don't know why your batteries only lasted 2 weeks JG, I also have one at work and can't remember last time I changed the batteries.

One word of warning, if you have two computers close to each other, only get one cordless.  We had fun at work when we all decided to go cordless, one mouse was working on the opposite computer. :rolleyes:

We have a cordless mouse at home and it's great.  Much better than having wires.   Only thing is you need to remember to stick it on it's dock when you switch off as I sometimes forget!  :rolleyes:  If I'd known it was going to be this good when I bought it I'd have bought the set with the keyboard and mouse, but you don't seem to get the top of the range keyboard I was looking for on it's own without the mouse.

I really like them - the mouse is much easier to use.  However my cocker chewed the cable for the receiver and when I went to replace them they told me I couldn't just buy the receiver or cable but had to buy a new receiver, keyboard and mouse at a cost of £110!  As it was my partner's computer I felt I had to replace it with the nearest equivalent otherwise I would have gone back to cords at that stage.  Still, I was just grateful that it wasn't a mains cable Molly had chewed - I thought the little s*d was asleep under the desk...

What exactly is an optical mouse

I saw the heading and my first thoughts was that the keyboard ways cordless because a mouse had eaten it :(

Bah!  I've got that many wires and cables sticking out of this Mac that being able to remove two would make no difference!  Webcam, USB hub, printer, flat scanner, film scanner, rewriter, monitor, active speakers - and desklight.  I'd be far more interested in wireless interconnects for all the bits of my "entertainment system" - as all the items are interconnected and have individual power cables, there are about 30 pieces of spaghetti down the back of that lot!

Not to mention the spiders.......

Dont get a cordless mouse! We had one and it was so frustrating because it froze sometimes!

I have a Microsoft optical mouse and Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard and both are great - 2 less cables for puppy to play with :D .  But you do always need to remember to have spare batteries to hand, mine last approx. 6 weeks.

Still haven't decided what to get - and now, for some reason, he's decided to look at gas bbq's !. Where did that come from ?!!!. One minute it's keyboards and mice, the next it's bbq's !!!. MEN - what are they llike ?!!.
