Can any one help, when you buy a puppy should the papers already be there??my puppy was 7 wks old when i got her and the breeder said shes still waiting for the papers to come back is that sincere or not??i saw the parents and they are full breed,is it feasable or have i been ripped off?????

Well, depends when she applied for them. They usually come back from the KC within a week or so these days. Did you get anything in writing? Just because the parents are purebred, doesn't mean they are KC Registered. Contact the KC to find out, if you know the parents' kennel names.

It is possible that the KC are being slow and that papers will be on their way but like said have you got anything in writing or can you contact the KC.

I don't send mine off until fairly late on but if I've not got them back before the pups leave my home they are given a handwritten note from me to say that the KC papers will follow in the next couple of weeks.

On our contract of sale it states which paperwork accompanies the pup at time of sale, and if anything is to follow, both parties sign, and that way no one is in any doubt about what they should get.  We often dont send off registrations till the pups are a bit older, as we are sorting out names, and often run on several from a litter.  However, as we rarely supply KC reg with our pet pups it is made clear that they get the pedigree, not the Registration.  I would say the guests best option is to a)ring the breeder to ask when they were sent and b) ring the KC with the parents registered names and check if they are processing the paperwork, if not, get back on to the breeder straight away.  there are several resons why paperwork can be delayed, even though the KC is so much quicke these days, errors on the form ,problems with payment method, names not acceptable etc etc all lead to delays in receiving the documents back to the breeder.  However, they will be notified of all these things so should be able to keep you updated.

We got our pup a week and a half ago with no papers because the breeder we went to had to add her affix to the name so we left without them but they have been posted to us now, so we weren't being ripped off and he was nearly 11 weeks when we got him.
