For all those with Pet Insurance , what timescale does your Policy list for notifying your Insurance of condition/illness etc.
I'm with Argos and they have to be notified within 60 days or the claim is void. Is this the usual timescale ?
Hi Lel,
Both my dogs are insured through Petplan (definition; Allianz Cornhill Insurance plc).
If either of mine require treatment then we have to fill in our section of the claims form and get the vet to fill in their part before the treatment begins. Then we have to send the claim form in at the end of the treatment, or at the end of the policy year if the treatment has not finished by that time.
Our's is a policy that was issued to us by the Dog Trust (NCDL), when we adopted the boys and we carried it on. It is a very good policy, as it lasts for the whole of the dogs life, regardless of any ailment :-)

Well - as I am feeling in a particularly good mood - which is unusual for a Tuesday (or any day come to that) :D
Petplan says that you must claim at the end of the treatment OR at the end of the policy year - can't se anything else :)
Interesting reading - MUST have dog's teeth examined by a vet every year. MUST have dog vaccinated (as previously discussed on the board). You must arrange for a vet to examine your dog as soon as it shows any signs of illness etc.
(Ran all the way up the stairs to get some exercise, what a good girl :D )

OK, I've also rummaged about and found my policy (Direct Line Advanced Policy) "you must notify us within three months of the initial consultation taking place".

6 months or by the end of the period of insurance whichever is the sooner, from Pet Pals (Domestic and General).
It's not something i've really thought about looking at, as i'm always desperate to get my money back. :D

When i have a pet having treatment I notify company straight away then they send claim form then I give it to the vet with SAE to send it off to Insurance always have done this and it always works
As far as I know you can claim at any time with petplan. Treatment for my dog has been ongoing over the past 6 months and I just claim once a month or so
