am i right in thinking these are less mad as the red setters??
and slighty easier to train??

would two hours free running a day be enough for one??
are the males ok with other dogs? and strangers??

Strange you are called Roxy, we have a Rox here, and she also has Irish Red & White Setters, no doubt she'll be along in a while.

I however have Irish Setters (the red ones ) and they are not all as mad as people would have you believe. If you devote enough time and attention to their needs, they will not be 'mad'. They'll be too busy being busy.

I have a friend with Red & Whites.  When off lead on a walk they are on the go all the time, but when at home or between training sessions they are real couch potatoes.

I don't know whether this is indicitive of the breed as these are the only ones I know, but they are certainly not hyper, she does put in a lot time training them though.

Yes the red and whites are said to be less mad, and they are in my experiance, but this doesn't mean that they are calm and lazy dogs. 

I have found training my red and whites very easy as they will do anything for food (if theres something in it for them they will do anything!!)

Red and whites will also give or take as much exercise as you give them so will be more then happy with 2 hours aday but will always be willing for more and won't get too upset if for somereason one day you can't give them the two hours (do not go leanient on this, they don't mind losing abit of exercise, too much tho and like any dog they will become bored and may become desructive!

Males are not always good with other male red and whites but depends on the lines, as with strangers, most are fine.
