Topic Dog Boards / General / HELP!! Need RAF dog section tel number.
- By Krys [gb] Date 06.04.04 13:41 UTC
We had a litter born last Sept and one of the boy pups went to live with a man local to us.  We contacted him last night to see how he was getting on and we were told that he had given the dog to the RAF!  Although he had signed the receipt and understood that the pup would have to be returned to us in the event of this happening.  His excuse was that he was getting to big!!!  Does anyone have the telephone number of the RAF dog section, because apart from the fact we have people waiting for dogs, we are worried that if he doesn't make the grade then he will be shipped off to god knows where and we will not know what has happened to him.

Thanks

Becky

I am surprised that they have taken such a young puppy? Try: 01664 411771 ext: 8668. They may not speak to you, but it might be worth a try.

If you don't manage to get him back - you can be sure that they don't just ship them of anywhere.  There are a lot worse places that a dog could end up.  A friend of mine has been on the list to rehome a 'failed' detector dog from Melton Mowbray for a some time.  He has been thoroughly vetted and is now looking forward to giving a dog a good home with plenty of love and attention.

It is a shame that this has happened :-( but I'm sure you don't know where every one of your pups has ended up.  I keep in close contact with both the breeders of my dogs but I know that I'm not in the majority - lots of people don't keep in touch for whatever reason. It's their loss though - with a good breeder you have a mine of experience and information just a phonecall away.

I do hope you manage to get the dog back, if only for your own peace of mind :-)

Thank you for the replies.  We called the number that admin gave us and we are waiting for them to get back to us, but it's not looking good.  We have contacted the couple that bought the pup and after speaking to the wife, she was adament that he went to the RAF as a chap in a uniform came round to see him and took him away!!!!  He told her that the dog was going to RAF Lyneham and would be used for competitions!  So really we are none the wiser as to who has the dog, the RAF or someone posing as them!

As others have said the RAF are good and do seem to care about the "failed" dogs too!!  One of my Spanish went as a youngster and failed, luckily they came back to me though.  Hope everything goes OK, fingers crossed.

If the RAF took the puppy, they will have been asked to sign a release form. They should have a copy?

We have been waiting for the lady to get back to us, but she doesn't seem very fourth coming.  I wonder why?!  I now feel that they have been taken for a ride, but we live in hope.  If we here anything I will let you know.  Thank you all for your messages.
