Where do you do your pet's washing? I've been shoving Sparky's towels and vetbed in my washing machine (on their own, not with hubby's best shirts - unless we've had a row, of course... ;) ) for months now - followed by a quick empty machine rinse - am I being terribly unhygienic? Only ask because my sister told me she won't let her hubby wash any of their dogs' stuff in her machine because she reckons any fleas will stay in the machine and breed (?) Must be mechanical fleas if they can breed in a metal drum - but I stand to be corrected on this. She sends him outside with a huge bucket of soapy water to do it all by hand, poor lad.

The dog's bedding goes in the washing machine just like everything else!

That's good to know, JG. This is after all the sister who hoovers her skirting boards every other day! Feel better now knowing that even if I am a slob, I am not alone!

Mine goes in the machine followed by a rinse cycle. I have a boarding cattery and all the cat bedding goes in there too.

Just had a thought, though. What happens to all those dog hairs?! Lol at thought of washer repair man pulling up his nose in disgust and pulling out handfuls of Sparky wrapped around whatever is jamming the machine!
Adds another dimension to "All fur coat and no knickers"!

In my machine they go into the filter which is a little lift up door at the bottom right hand side. Unscrew a cap pull out filter and scrape out Beardie hair rinse and replace. Must check it as I haven't looked for a bit :-)

The hairs do clog the pump in our ancient Hotpoint every month or so but hubbie is a dab hand at the drain, dismantle & clean routine now. :)

Yep, in the machine too !. To be honest, I'd rather put the cat/dog stuff in there before hubby's smalls !!!.
Also, I add a small amout of disinfectant in the machine - in the place where the soft rinse would normally go (that's for the cat/dog stuff, not hubby's smalls !!).

Everything goes in the washing machine, and I am not at all fussy, unlike my neighbour who dusts her suffix boards and polishes her down pipes, feel sorry for her really it must be an ordeal living next to me.

I used to have a friend at work that took a toothbrush to her wheely bin wheels

There's a strange woman in our village who cleans the gutter in the street outside her house with a dustpan and brush ...
The woman across the road cleans the bits between the paving slabs in front of her house with a knife, washes the entire outside of her house once a week and washes down her drive practically every day. They have three cars and will not park any of them in the drive although they could easily fit two in there at least - without using the garage. :)

There are, I believe, those who clean keyholes out with cotton buds!

Everything in the same machine dog stuff is just another load similar to dark, light etc!!!
Have got another washing machine in garage which is ment for the dogs stuff...Yup its still in the garage!!!
As for fleas, can the survive 60°C????

Oh and the woman next door to paving slab lady has painted her house black - that's not got much to do with anything, it's just weird) and likes to keep up with next door so every month she hires a huge power washer, dresses up in wellies, gloves and goggles and 'does' her drive for a whole day. (We call her legohead because her hair never moves a millimetre) Partner has to stop himself from giving her a 'criminal waste of water' lecture.
Incidentally like most others we do all dogs bedding, toys, throws etc in the washing machine and I'm afraid I don't even rinse it through. Seeing as she shares our bed most of the time our clothes and bedding are pretty much hers anyway. :)
