i know this is a daft question but does any-one know roundabout what age a puppy will start teething.
we have got a gorgeous 8 week old rottie and today he has been whimpering when chewing things and is bitin everything in sight!! bless him.
are dogs like teething babies i.e do they get a runny nose? because he has also had this problem too. i am gonna contact the breeder tomoro and he is goin to the vets in the mornin for his jabs so i will mention it to him but i really dont like to see him whimperin and lookin sorry for himself. i have given him things too chew but it breaks my heart when he cries as he is chewin them.
any tips would be appreciated.

p.s he is a male so if it is his teeth i am sure he will milk it for all he is worth!!!

He shouldnt be crying in pain.
You mentioned he had taken to chewing the stones on the fireplace could have had broken a tooth
and the nerve is playing up?
Take him the vet and get them to take a look

I soak t-towels,socks, in water tie them in a knot put them in freezer. after a couple of hours give them to puppy,seems to numb there gums when teething.

took him to the vets this mornin and everything is fine - teeth ok think the whimperin could be because he gets so frustrated when he cant do what he wants.
have tried freezing things and that seems to be workin - his fave are face cloths he is now under the impression that ALL face cloths are his and when i am doin the washing he runs off with them - it is hilarious!!

BTW Cal i cant believe how much he has grown this week, he is huge. i am gonna mail you some pics today and will phone you in the next couple of days.
