Hi
I have 2 year old Weimaraner male, he is very good, great with my children and very loving and great out walking he played well with other dogs, but ever since i got my second dog a vizsla bitch he has become very agressive with other dogs mostly other males, he has been neutered so I never thought i would have this problem. Please could anyone give me some advise on this problem.

Proberbly hes jealous of the new dog and acting out this in other ways. If its only just started happening after you got your other dog then that could be it. When we got our second dog we made sure the first didn't get pushed out. I'm not saying you are doing this but it really hard not to pay too much attention to your new addtion whilst still lavishing the same attention on the first dog. My friend has two bitches and the first got really jealous and started destroying the house simply because her owner paid more attention to the second dog when she first arrived. He thought it would help her settle in bit he didn't mean for the first to feel like she was being pushed aside ( he changed her routine and she didn't like it) I learnt from his innocent mistake and i didn't change our firsts dog routine instead intoduced our second dog into his routine so he still felt important and wanted. I have since changed the routine but gradually to suit me and once they had both settled in together. I hope this helps.

Dogs aren't capable of jealousy - they resource gaurd, which means protecting what they see as valuable - this may well be the owner, which is often looked on as 'jealousy' by uninformed owners. Added to this bitches are notorious for not getting on - two bitches will need VERY careful introduction and supervision for the first few weeks (I currently have two bitches!) The first bitches destructive behaviour was probably more linked to the stress she was experiencing than jealousy........

I have responded to you on the behaviour forum. He is resource guarding his bitch; you will need to be extremely careful when your bitch comes into season; it is a particular trait in Weimaraners I am afraid.
