Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / mating on correct day

hi im new here just wondered if anyone can help me ive just had my bitch mated twice, she was in season for two weeks, then it turned from red blood to a watery pink colour, the following day she was mated and by which time she had stopped bleeding totally, she was swollen and tail flicking, then 48 hrs was mated again, still no blood and hasnt shown any blood since. she stood for the stud dog and they locked on both occasions, im just wondering if she will be definately in pup and if they can tie even if bitch isnt at ovulation during her season. always had bitches bleed for at least another week after mating. confused as to whether i got her timing right this was also her first mating, id appreciate any advice from anyone on this.thanks

It is normal to mate the bitch when the blood ceases and turns to a much paler and clearer colour. Ovulation normally takes place at this time.   I would not normally expect to see blood again, to see blood for a week after mating is unusual.  It would be impossible to say she is definitely in whelp but it would seem to me that the mating took place at the optimum time and she has the best possible chance of being pregnant.
