Hi i am hoping you can all help with a new problem i have with Paris :-( , as some of you may remember she has alot of problems due to bad breeding and for those who dont i will fill you very quickly. Paris has Brachycephalic Syndrome and due to this the vet's feel her brain has been starved of oxygen and so her behavoir is not always of the norm, a bit like someone who we sometimes call simple. She went blind in one eye in february and the other eye, at this time seems to be fine, and also she seems fine in herself. The problem is over the last couple of weeks, when we are out on our walks she has been attacking other dogs for no apparant reason. Paris is one minute wagging her tail and saying hello and the next minute she launches herself at them, all teeth and the only way i can describe it, it is as though she is trying to savage there throat. This is the only place she goes for them and no matter how much shouting i am doing she dosent stop and i have to physically drag her off. Once i have got her she is back to herself tail wagging and it is as though the incident never happened. It has happened on 3 occassions now first time it was another bitch and she attacked backed but listned to the owner and backed off at which point i managed to grab hold of her and thought it must have been a once off. The second time it was a lovley neutered boy who my dogs have met on many occassions with and always played with, the attack was the same very sudden and very savage. The last time it was another bitch who again is very friendly if a little timid but showed no signs of any thing but playing with my dogs and all of a sudden Paris just flew at her. I have now of course realised i have a real problem here and today i took just chester and missy on there normal walk but took paris on a road walk until i can get some idea of what could be going on. I am unsure if she is jealous as the other 2 are always eager for a game with any one else but if so why, she has always played in the past herself. Is it something to do with her age, she had her first season 2 months ago and never even then did she show any signs of temperament change. Lastly she shows no sign of aggression at home or in any other circumstances at all, and to all those who know her it is a total shock as she has earnt herself the nick name of nanny as she is so gentle and loving. Please can someone tell what could be going on here and is there any reason as to why it is the throat, does this mean something. All suggestions gratefully recived as usual, Emma.
Sorry to hear about your bother it must be very upsetting for you all. Suggest your vet examines her first so you know whether or not it's related to her physical problems. Meantime Id keep Paris on a lead at all times to stop anyone getting hurt and watch how the 3 get on at home in case theres an incident there- who has a crate or seperate sleeping arrangements? It must be awful to see this change in a loving dog youve seen through so much already, please dont be offended at the safety first approach.

Hi no offense taken, i am now thinking exactly the same thing my-self hence the road walk today. Paris and missy both share a kennel and run together outside and there has been no signs of any aggression between either of them but of course i am watching them very closley as this has set alarm bells ringing in my head. I know from some previous post's that some say bitches will not live together and others say there's are fine but it was never my intention to have the two of them sharing. Paris prefers to be out as it seem's to help with her breathing, the heating etc left her panting constantly, but i wanted to keep missy outside as she was to be show dog and although this may seem strange to some people, as a family with young children i did not want her to be spoilt by them. Chester is indoors as he is our x-breed and big baby and is neutered but again when they are all in the garden together there has never been any signs of problems and he is defiantly seen as top dog, even though he is a big wuss :D !! . Thank-you for your prompt reply i just hope i get some insight to this, by the way Paris is due for her monthly check up a week monday and at her last she was fine, Emma.

Hiya Emma, sorry to hear that you are having problems! well first she cant see very well and she has other problems so she will need you to look out for any thing that might upset her and take her away from it before any thing happens dont walk her near other dogs dont let her off lead and you must watch out for any changes in her in the home i dont think that i would keep her with my other dog when i wasnt there to watch them just in case, i would think she would be better off sleeping in the house where you can keep an eye on her because if she has a problem which is to do with the brain she might start to have fits and if she is shut up with your other youngster then one will be hurt. And she could very well have just become very protective around the other dogs. all the best.
