Hi my name is Lisa and I have just recently joined. I have an ex racing Greyhound that I have registered with the Kennel Club. I had wanted to show her at Crufts in the racing/coursing class but didn't get her registered in time. I want to show her at the 3 counties champ show, I'm going to put her in Open but would it be ok for her to go in post graduate too? I don't really know much about the definitions of champ show classes. I have been showing her for 2 years in exemption/companion and she did quite well at those winning a BIS, RBIS and many 1st placements. Any information would be great! Thanks. *Lisa*

Hi
open classes at champ level are full of champions and dogs that have won/are winning well at champ level.Since your girl has only done companion shows so far I would enter her for the lowest class possible...and see how she does.
Good luck

Can you enter a dog then that has only been registerd later in life and not by the breeder???

As far as classes I would enter in post grad as open is where all the champions will be.  Winning a companion show is nothing like getting a place at a champ show.

Of course you can I have BC's whose parents are not KC registered, they are registered with the ISDS & Greyhounds registered with the Greyhound Stud book  or Naional Greyhound Racing Club are treated the same

KC Rules n Regs B,Annex B 3.29(1) refers & lists the non Kennel Club organizations that dogs registered with can be also registered with the KC as pedigree

Can't they only be taken to working event and not shown at Open shows or Champ. Shows though?

But they can't be shown in breed classes can they?

They can be registered on the breed register according the  red book KC Rules n Reg N 3.23(10) & (14)

They include the Jersey KC Guernesy KC Lancashire Heelers(although this may be closing soon), Master of Fox hounds Ass, Master of Harriers & Beagles Ass, British Jack Russell Terrier Club, Parson Russell Terrier Club & the IKC

Ergo they can be shown at any show which has classes for the breed

Companion Show is the new name for Exemption Shows. They are the informal shows that usually have pedigree classes and fun classes (dog with the waggiest tail, etc).

Thanks for all the replys :) I have checked out many champ show results and there are a few ex racers being entered in open & Post Grad, so I'll enter her and give it a go. I like showing at companion shows, but I'd like to take it one stage further. Greyhounds are not numerically strong in the show ring, with only about 10-15 enteries, so one more might be good. Also there a Special Greyhound championship show in November with a racing/coursing class, so we'll go to that too! *Lisa*
