hello, this is my first time at showing and i was wondering if anybody could help me. my rottie is six months old and his fist show is easter sunday. i have just noticed that on his shoulder blades i can see a lot of tan hairs where they are supposed to be black. now i know the breed standard states that the undercoat should be grey,tan/fawn, or black, but would you say that this would be a worry for me? will he grow out of it? thankyou for any help.

some rotties do get extra tan markings particularly behind the ears or on top of head - if it is alot of tan then you may get marked down for it but if its only a few stray hairs then don't worry but i wouldn't let your dog sunbathe as this can bleach the tan hairs making them a lighter colour so therefore more noticable - bearing in mind that if everything else is up to scratch on your dog then the judge may let the extra tan slide as its not a major fault i have been beaten once by a rottie whose back was comletely bleached by the sun so had bleached black/tan markings all over it. If its your first show just enjoy the experience and as long as you know you have a lovely dog who cares what anyone else thinks!
