We are looking for alternative therapies (reflexology / hydrotherapy / accupuncture etc) for Hip Dysplasia.  If anyone has any advise or experience or knows anyone who could help, please let me know.
Thank you

I have no personal experience of HD, but I take my dog to a hydrotherapy pool for dogs for her muscle build. I chat to the owner quite alot and the majority of his clients are referrals from the vets for dogs with HD, apparently the swimming can build the muscle  around the joints and improve the condition for the dog.
Good Luck.

Hi
Dont know about alternate therapies exept hydotherapy, but my three year old lab has HD and arthritis, not congenital, but overweight and underexercised as a puppy, Try Glucosamine, chondroitin and M.S.M.
Glucosamine sulphate aids mobility and smooth working of cartilage,  tendons & ligaments. This ease any aches & pains.Chondroitin helps attract fluid into the cartilage. M.S.M (Methylsulfonylmethane) is one of the major building blocks of key structural components in cartilage. It can be bought as an organic sulphur supplement. There is also Green Lipped Mussel Extract which can be used to help maintain the mobility of the joints. Most poducts on the market for human consumption are suitable for animals but check this first, Also check dosage as weight plays a large part in prescribed amount. Dosage prescribed for humans as a rule is for 12stone, therefor if your dog is 6 stone then half the daily dosage, if your dog is 3 stone then the dosage would be a quarter and so on. Hope you find something that helps.

Try TTouch - it's a form of physical therapy. Very easy to learn to do it yourself. You'll find all the info you need on it on http://www.ttouch.com/
