Hi all nice site,

Can anyone give me info on a silent season.  I have a 9 months old Dobie and she has not had a season yet.  I also have a male who is very interested in her lately and is getting very worked up.  I am constanly splitting them up and she is showing no obvious signs,  could a be a silent season?  I know they are rare but I do not know what else it could be.  Unless our boy is just one very excitable dog.

All information pointers and guides will be much appreciated.

Regards

Paul

You might find that your bitch is very close to coming into season so she is giving off the sent which is whats making the boy excited.  At 9 months this all fits into place so I recormend that every morning as soon as you have woken and before the bitch wees check her for any signs.  It could be possible that her first couple of days are scilent and from my experiance this seems to be common for a bicthes first.

Usually even a silent season can be recognized as there would still be swelling and the bitch would stand to be mated. She could be close to having her first season. My dogs seem to get very excitable just before one of my bitches come into season.
