I am thinking about taking our 6 month lab (male but just castrated) to meet his mother who he hasn't seen since he was 9 weeks. My question is, is this a good idea (from both dogs' point of view) and does anyone know whether they will recognise each other? Is there anything we need to look out for in their behaviour or could we just safely 'let them get on with it'?

Personally I would treat the meeting as if they were two strange dogs.

In my experience I have found its about half and half.  Sometimes both parties remember each other, sometimes they don't.

let them meet on neutral territory, on leads, and take it from there....

Good luck and have fun
