my bitch has just been mated and was succesful resulting with a tie. problem is im not accurate as to which day into her season she was although she stood and was ready. today she seems to have dryed up and not so swollen ,was due for second mating tommorrow 48 hrs from first mating. would it be likely they wont mate, and although she stood to be mated first time round, if outside of ovulation can they still tie. just not sure whether the deed is done, and if i should take her tommorrow. does anyone have advice and experience to this and know what the outcome would be. any replys grateful thanks

I would probably take her along anyway. The one mating should be o.k. some bitches do come out of season soon after a successful mating, some seem to take ages. Just hope you were right with her days. Time will tell! A bitch will stand and be mated outside ovulation. I once had a bitch come to get mated on her eleventh day and thirteenth day successfully, and  a phone call a week later that she was still standing to be mated. I said to bring her back for another mating in case we had been to early mating her, she stood and was again successfully mated. Resulting puppies (7) tallied in with her second mating.
