I received an offer this morning for car insurance quote for the OVER 50'S. I'm no where near that age yet! so I rang their freephone no. to request they remove my details from their database and got the reply "I can't do that, you need customer services!" the line went dead.I re-dialled and got the options again so pressed for 'complaints and customer services' and got the message " Sorry this department is unavailable!"
What a way to run a business :p

phew feel better now :)

Isn't that ageist or something?  Discriminating against people who are a certain age?  If they're much cheaper I'd tell them you want insured and really mess them up!  :D

Ha ha ha Harriet - but if anyone really is over 50 and needs insurance, my mum has had great deals from Tesco and saved loads of money on house/car etc.

I got one of those & returned it to sender with "Why are you sending this to someone of XX" plastered across it in BIG black letters

Don't know if it'll do any good, but it made me feel better

It's very likely that your name and address were sold to the insurance company by some other company with which you have had dealings - this is a very common (and downright disgraceful) practise these days :(

You can get a lot of this stopped by using the Mailing Preference Service (there's also one for landline and mobile phones) here:

Wouldn't worry too much :) I get thing's like that a lot - probably because hubby is over 50 :D Far worse things can happen in life :)

Hubby was carrying our oldest (then aged about 2) on his shoulders. Someone said to him 'What a lovely grandson you have'  :D Hubby was only 36 at the time :D
