Does anyone have experience of organising a school reunion ??  It is my 10th anniversary of leaving school this year  and I thought I would take the initiative to organise a reunion (ok so I was hoping one of the typical "organising boffs" from school would arrange one but it doesnt seem to have happened :D ).  I really dont have a clue where to start though.  I will obviously have to book a hall but how do I know how much to charge people if I dont know how many are coming ??  Knowing my luck im going to end up out of pocket !!  Ive posted the idea on friends re-united and have only had one response from someone who is willing to help out with advertising and stuff (its his line of work)

Any ideas would be much appreciated, with a new puppy coming soon I want to get the ball rolling ASAP because once he arrives im not going to have much time for anything else ;)

I've never organised one,but I attended a 20yr reunion a couple of years ago.I was contacted by phone and it seemed that a few old mates had got together then phoned whoever they knew and asked that person to phone another and so on.We had people coming from Germany,USA,Canada it was great about 200 turned up in all and we signed a guest/comment book leaving full address etc for the 'next reunion',people could obtain a copy of this for about £5.Plus we paid about £5 each and got a 'soft' drink and snacks (crisps etc.) for that. I don't think they booked the hall until they had a rough idea of who was likely to attend first.

I nearly didn't go,having gained a few pounds and got a few grey hairs, but hubby said don't be daft they will all have similar changes. The one thing that did shock me though was seeing how many of the blokes were now bald! :D :D

Our school reunion was great we hired one floor of a nightclub, it shocked me how many of my school friends are now bald as well :D
The best bit was that so many people had held grudges from their schooldays :) so at the end of the night the fights started :D in all their were 14 people arrested and most of them were women :D
I can't wait for the next one :D

Oh no - fights   I didnt think of that, maybe I should include the price of a couple of bouncers into the ticket price :D :D

Good idea about the night club though - ill have to look into that :)

We had ours at school during the day and brought our own drink.  It carried on in the local pub - much the same as school lunchtimes! :o   It was held in the summer and the weather was lovely.  We had free reign of the school and even went into the staff room!  It was lovely to see everyone again but I did find that as much as intentions were good we never have done it again although I have added a few more names to the christmas card list.
