It is always difficult to workout a pups ancestry if they are not registered as records are just hearsay or the imagination of the breeder. Why is your friend so keen to know? Does the pup have health problems?

No tyler does not have any health problems, she is wanting to stud tyler as a non KC reg dog but wants to know where Narthern warrior came from so she can let the bitch's owners know where Northern warrior comes from.

What is Tyler's hipscore? Is he suitable for studding in the first place? There are plenty of badly-bred unregistered rotties about.

One of the problems is that unregistered dogs can't be hip scored and nor is there any knowledge of health problems in the background such as epilepsy.

Why does she want to breed from an unregistered dog? There are loads of such dogs in rescue alongside some that are bred from registered dogs who are not that good or are excess to requirements.

i have a crufts qualified rottie with good hip score and eyes clear excellent temperament and well up to the breed standard and no-one wants to use him at stud so why would anyone wand to use an unregistered rottie on their lovely bitch when they could use a dog similar to mne with all the necessary health checks and kc reg??????? MMMMMMMM interesting perhaps instead of going to a reputable breeder and buying my dog and then spending 2 years showing him i shouldv'e just got a dog off joe bloggs down the street and then 'studded him out'

i have loved this breed for a long time now i got my rottie in aug 03 and he was in a mess the woman i got him from said he had been in 4 homes and i was his 5th i love him so much hes here to stay. im no breeder and my dog as lovely as he is i would never breed from as i no nothing of his past, i wish people would leave this to the breeders that give time and money into looking for the right dogs to breed from.

If she wishes to stud Tyler, then I assume she has the time, cash and facilities to cope with a pile of adolescent rotties who may need rehoming if their new owners cant cope. Also the experience and money to cope wit any medical and behavioural problems they may be returned with. A good breeder is responsible for the puppies produced by his/her dog as well as any bred by themselves personally.
A bitch owner has the choice of most top dogs in the Uk to take her bitch to. Why would they waste their money and time with a dog of uncertain parentage and unregistered/hip scored etc? it costs just as much to rear good ones as bad ones. The fact they are black and tan with four legs doesnt make them good specimens of the breed.
The mind boggles

NORTHERN WARRIOR ~ no affix, impossible to trace I would think and it may well be the papers lost in the house fire were only worthy of being burnt. Anyone can give a dog a name and make up a list of dogs said to be it's ancestors, but unless registered no one will have a clue as to who bred or what the status of the dogs in the pedigree is.
