Hi..
Could any one tell me what time the Mancunian Boxer show starts on Sunday 4th April.
I'm trying to arrange travel to the show on Sunday and just realised I don't know what time it starts. I imagined about 9am, but I'm not at all sure! I want to be there from the start as I don't want to miss a moment of it!
Thanks for any help in advance..and maybe I'll see you there!
Good luck to all who are entered x

The show opens at 9am with judging starting at 10am for the bitches
and 10.30am for dogs, however it does say but not before completion of Minor Puppy Bitch.
The judges are Australian, so it should be a good entry.

Thanks for the reply Boxacrazy.
Just another quick question. I only found out about the show yesterday, so we are going blindly. We don't need tickets or anything do we? Also, what time is the event likely to finish?
Good luck with any dog you're going to be showing.
May see you there x

No I think that spectators get in for free.....can't remember exactly as I
haven't got the schedule infront of me.
They will charge for a catalogue of all the dogs entered though, can't remember how
much and they have a couple of 'doggy' stalls with some Boxernalia to purchase.
Crikey ummmmm not sure when it's finished would hope it's by 4-5pm as I
have over 3 hours travelling to do...but it really depends on the entry.
I also hope that Man U aren't playing at home as last year it was a nightmare for traffic...
what with them playing at home and then a footy match on in Birmingham...it was a nightmare.

I'm entered but not sure if I'm going yet...other Boxer hooligans to sort out first :)
If I am there look out for Trumist Ain't No Saint as that's my 'little angel' :D

Thanks again Boxacrazy.
I don't know if you remember me from my previous postings. I'd been asking about stud dogs and showing in the vain hope my boxer boy would be up to scratch.
Anyway, it turns out he's way off the breed standard (although not in my eyes!!) and is purely 'pet' quality.
I bought him very naively from a local breeder, without doing my homework on the breed.
When we picked him up, she asked if I'd be willing to use him at stud. Although this was never my intention, she sort of talked me into it. She never said anything about 'showing' and I assumed it was as easy as just 'offering him out'.
Needless to say, since then I've done a lot of reserch on the breed, standard, studding etc. My boy is well off the mark. The breeder I got him from is the classic 'back yard breeder'. Alarm bells started ringing when I tried to ask her question..she either couldn't or wouldn't reply. Hence my joining of this site. I've asked questions galore, read the books, and this time really have looked in to things.
As much as I love my boy, I've really got into the idea of showing, and I know it can never happen with him. So, the next step I'm taking is to go along to the shows, get my eye in with the dogs there, have a chat with the breeders (if you're there I'll no doubt be pestering you!! beware!!) and look at the possibility of adding a new baby girl to my household in the future.
Another couple of questions here for you..sorry..
How do you think my boy would react to a new baby girl? I don't want to upset Rob (my boy) so any advice, good or bad experiences, or anything you can offer would be great.
Also, Rob is 'all man' at the moment. I've been told that due the their short noses, boxers can have problems with anaesthetic. Although I don't want any 'accidents' with Rob and my possible new girl, do you honestly think it would be possiby to keep them apart during the girls season. Or is the truth the fact that Rob will have to be 'done'
Thanks again for your help. I want to look at all the possibilities before I go any further with this.

It is free to spectate at this show, but I think the catalogues are either £2 or £2.50 on the day give yourself plenty of time to find the venue because I don't know about kirstine but this is the show we always seem to get lost going to and we've come home a few different routes too (perhaps that's just our bad sense of direction LOL) Please say hello if you spot us too (Strutlix Bubble Bobble in Minor puppy bitch) as we only have one pup there we will be mainly spectating too.

Thanks for that Sauceboat!
I most certainly will come over and say hello if I see you there! Please be prepared to be bombarded with questions though!!
I have a special interest in the Minor Puppy Bitches as you may have read above, I'm looking into the possibility of a new addition to our family!
Good luck to both you and your girl on the day!
Hope to see you there x

You are welcome to question me all you like, if I don't know all the answers I'm sure I can put you on to someone who does.

As regards keeping male and female together they are the best combination I find, apart from the obvious seasons, we do not find this too much of a hassle, we have 1 stud dog and 4 adult bitches at the moment and 3 bitches came in season at the same time a few months ago, luckily being an experienced dog he only gets interested as the right day for mating approaches, he did cry a little and dropped a bit of weight but nothing too drastic we just had to be very careful not to let them loose together but we do have a very large run and are set up to sperate them when needed.

If you do decide to have him castrated to avoid the problem then I wouldn't worry unduly over the anaesthetic as over the years we have had our fair share of ops and never had a problem obviously there is a slight risk with any surgery but our vets are very good and use an anaesthetic which they can bring them around from very quickly we do pay a little more but I think it is worth it.

I would doubt very much if your boy would have any problems should you introduce a bitch puppy into the house. Most Boxers love puppies and are instictively gentle with them.

You will find it very difficult to keep them apart during the weeks of your bitch's season unless you are prepared to kennel your male or to have him stay with friends/relatives. The mating urge is so strong that either or both are likely to breach the most stringent security precautions.

If you do decide to have Rob castrated make sure that the vet does NOT use ACEPROMAZINE. This is a pre-anaesthetic tranqillizer and most vets are aware that it is dangerous for Boxers and will use a safe, alternative, sedative. There are various anaesthetics available to vets nowadays. Aske your vet to use the safest, even if it should be more expensive.

Again..Thanks for these replies!
I will certainly be looking out for you both and your dogs on the day.
Also.....sorry boxacrazy...there is a big football match in Manchester on Sunday!
Good luck once again x
