well lucky me, today, i find that my dogue de bordeaux bitch not only has stud tail but ,has demodectic mange in a small area over the shoulder and ears. i adopted her from a city kennel in cleveland, ohio, U.S.A. 2 weeks ago. she was 30+ pounds under weight and found roaming the streets of inner city cleveland, ohio(not a nice place to live). today the vet gave her an injection of Ivermectin(spelling?) in her hip, and an application of Revolution(brand name) on the skin between her shoulder blades. we need to do this every 7 days for 2 more weeks=2 more injections and 2 more applications. my vet says the demodectic mange was due to physiological stress which allowed the mites to multiply.  will Ivermectin cure all types of mites? will Revolution(phizer) kill all mites? will the hair grow back? i read that Revolution only kills sarcopyic mange and not demodectic mange. my vet says it will kill both-plus.

                                     thank you,
                                         chris

>> Ivermectin cure all types of mites <<

It is a recognised treatment for demodectic mange and works well, but is a very powerful drug and can't be given to collie type dogs. It attacks when the bodies immune system is low and that can be caused by a number of things including a GA and operation.

Take a look at this past thread: Our Puppy Has Mange. You might also like to run a search using the facility in the top right hand corner of the forum page. Some interesting threads on this topic and treatments. Good luck with your dog.
