I was very upset this morning with my staffy bitch Tam who, as most of you know, had a litter 8 weeks ago. Both the pups have gone to their new homes but today Tam was very destructive.
I shut her in the downstairs toilet as she cannot be trusted to roam the house without peeing and normally don't have a problem. This morning however I returned from droping my kids off at school to find that she had totally destroyed the back of my toilet door!! She has never, in the time that we have had her chewed anything apart from her chew bones and dentastix before.
I don't know what possesed her to do it, maybe raging hormones and her milk is drying up.
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour before in a bitch after the pups have been homed?
Thanks for your help as always

IF her milk is drying up she may be in some discomfort, this sort of behaviour is often linked with seperation anxiety, but it can also be brought on by pain, so make sure she's comfortable........

Oh what a poor girlie she needs you to love her she has just lost her babies
dont tell her off cuddle her!! she needs a check up by your vet just to make sure she is okay
if she is then she needs abit of tlc from her family. :-)

Sens she has lost her babies have you thought about getting her a toy from the pet shop, something that she can "mother?" It might help a little bit. Also if you have to go out for a short round trip of just taking the kids to school is it possible you can take her with you? Just a sjjestion

Maybe she is just fed up in the loo..
May be worth getting a cage as long as she isn't left in it too long.
It is a difficult time for a bitch when all the puppies leave, especially if they all go. Not being cheeky but did you not keep one? I have not read any of your other posts so not sure.
Think she is going to need a bit more love and affection for a bit.

Blue I wish I had, I am in the process of doing my garden, putting a new garage up and it would not be fair on the pup.
Unfortunately I cannot take her to school with me as dogs have been banned from the school since some irresponsible owner let their dog foul the school yard and did not clean it up.
A friend suggested a dog control gate and I bought one yesterday. She has been in the kitchen with Jas and last night didn't have one accident and she seems better. However, I am going to have to take her to the vet as this afternoon she sneezed and her nose started bleeding badly. She is one lovely bitch and I love her to bits. Her son came today to see her and it really perked her up. He didn't try to suckle or anything and they got on great. As for the toy idea, no luck she won't have anything only my daughter's 'Smoochie' which she has most definately told she cannot have. I gave her a cuddle yesterday on the settee only she thinks she can go on there anytime she likes now but we can soon sort that problem out she is quite quick learning things when she has too especially when denta stix and liver cakes are used :)
Thanks for your advice and as usual it was very supportive and useful.
Thanks
