Hello everyone
I don't seem to have had very much opportunity to be on here recently, but have been lurking when I can!! Ella cut her pad (not the main one) very badly on Sunday. When I say bad I would liken it to if you slammed your hand down on to a very sharp blade and nearly chopped your thumb off - it really is that bad. We don't know what she trod on as she made no fuss at the time and it didn't immediately bleed (maybe too deep?) - only noticed when we opened the boot. We took her straight to our vet and the wound is currently bound very well - very padded - and is hopefully starting to heal. I am to change the bandage after three days and then after every two to three days and we are taking her back next Monday. I am giving her garlic and fenugreek tablets (6 - upped her normal dose) and hypericum and she is on a seven day course of antibiotics. She is supposed to only go out to wee etc then rest so we are taking her for short (5 min) walks at the moment around four times a day. She is not herself although is a bit brighter today and being a flatcoat she must be in pain to show it even a little. Just wondered if anyone thinks we should be doing anything else and how long you would continue with the very short walks. Obviously when she's feeling better she is going to want to do more and I'm not sure how to occupy her as we can't do her normal training, any ideas? Also, has anyone had any experience of a cut this deep and how long we may expect it to take to heal - I will have no idea how it's progressing until I look at it tomorrow.
Sorry this is long and thanks for any help.
Best wishes
Alex

Hi
My dog too cut his pad badly (the stopper pad I think its called, the one thats up the leg a bit) last wed, we took him to the vet and he bandaged it up, went back mon and it turns out he is allergic to the micropore tape stuff, his cut hadnt healed at all (had stopped bleeding though) so the vet just said leave it open till wed, no bandage or anything so its very hard trying to make sure he doesnt knock it and start it bleeding again. He has one of those collars on his head which he hates :(
Sorry about your dog :(
