Ebay are at it again another dog on there for the highest bidder he's on at £300 bless him
i have put in an objection!!! can some else as well please? (Bullmastiff)
- By Poodlebabe [gb] Date 30.03.04 08:08 UTC
With all due respect E-bay do not sell dogs but their sellers do. E-bay do not allow it. It must be very difficult to police such a massive auction site. So all you need to do is raise your objections with e-bay and I believe they remove them as soon as possible. If you really want to get your own back leave bad feedback on the sellers profile or whatever it is.

so what? this is not illegal is it? whats the problem? ive not been a member for very long but i have noticed that some people on here just want to hate the world and critisize everyone whos not identical to them! If someone wants to advertise on ebay, whos business is it but theirs????? I found my pup through a classified ad on the internet, so  dont see whats so bad about using the internet to advertise dogs!! live and let live please for goodness sake, if you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all!!!!

Selling dogs on eBay is against their own rules (see here under Live animals ) and therefore could be said to be illegal!
- By Hearn [gb] Date 31.03.04 15:34 UTC
Selling Dogs on Ebay is WRONG!!! It makes me feel sick to know that people have dogs and all they want is to sell them to the highest bidder, lord knows where they would end up or who with.  We do not critisize everyone as you say, but care for the welfare of ALL dogs...
- By digger [gb] Date 31.03.04 15:53 UTC
You may not see anything wrong with it - but IF Ebay permitted it under their rules then it would be wrong because the seller would be legally bound to sell to the highest bidder, however unsuitable a home that may be for the dog - this is morally wrong, a dog is a living, breathing thing and deserves to be treated as such, and not simple 'goods and chattles'.  As far as 'live and let live' goes - if we all lived by this we might still be using African natives as slaves and sending small children up chimneys (BTW - if anyone needs a small child to go up a chimney I have a couple here might be suitable - email me with your highest bid. ;))

so if someone sold a dog or any other animal on ebay how do they no if that animal is going to a nice caring owner, could be going to anyone who doesnt know what that breed of animal is like what needs they have etc etc or turn the situation around how does the buyer know what sort of dog they are getting, for you to say 'whats the problem' is your opinion but people on here care for any breed of dog and dont like seeing them being sold off to any 'joe public'
- By lel [gb] Date 31.03.04 15:58 UTC
some people DONT care though , lets be honest here :(
- By heidleberg [gb] Date 31.03.04 19:46 UTC
What fool would by any dog on ebay that they dont know anything about and they havent see it, it could have alsorts of problems, it could be from a puppy farm etc etc

Sadly the odd advert does manage to get on but nearly everytime it is spotted by bidders who complain and it gets taken off
- By danefan [fr] Date 02.04.04 09:15 UTC
well there was a student on gmtv the other day who sold her virginity to the highest bidder, she got 8 grand, I dont think thats right (i believe she will probabaly regret it later) but i believe if thats what she wants to do thats up to her, technically that is illegal too (selling yourself on the internet) but there are a lot of things which are illegal - they still go on though!  I dont see the problem with advertising animals on the internet, i suppose if it goes against ebays rules then you shouldnt do it, but there are plenty of other websites which are just as good.
- By candie [gb] Date 02.04.04 10:23 UTC
imagine anyone being sad enough to pay 8 grand for that, it makes me feel sick!!but then again i have a daughter of a similar age....
- By ClaireyS Date 02.04.04 10:36 UTC
Ive just read her story in my magazine.  She is a lesbian so didnt think it would affect her, but now she regrets it.  Just goes to show what people will do to pay for an education :( and as to who would pay £8000 for that, it was a divorced father of two :(

Hi,

My partner heard on the radio that a woman sold her newborn baby to the highest bidder.

Just makes feel terribly sad that someone could do this :-(

I don't know if it's the same one but a woman in Keighley a few miles from us recently "sold" her unborn baby to couples desperate for children then backed out of the agreements before it was born. She has been charged with deception and faces a possible 10 years in jail. The baby girl is in now in care.

Saw a bit in the paper the other day where women were advertising the use of their bodies for surrocacy(sp??) to the highest bidder!! how cold can you get!
Danefan..As for the dog ..no caring person would sell an animal to the highest bidder.Caring owners are more choosy about where our animals end up.Just because its legal doesn't make it right.

Danefan, there is a big difference between advertising a dog on the internet and auctioning a dog on the internet.  The KC puppy register is on the internet (that's how I found my pup), and I viewed a number of litters. The breeders asked as many questions of me and my suitability to have one of their pups as I did of them, but none of the breeders were obliged to sell one of their pups to me, likewise I was not bound to take any of their pups.   In an auction the seller is legally obliged to sell to the highest bidder regardless.

ebay have a sister site called epupz for advertising puppies or dogs or breeders on so there is no need to use ebay for the sale of animals - i got a lot of feedback when selling my puppies on epupz but of course the people were vetted and came and visited the litter and mum and dad before purchasing.
