I have a Newfie who is 22 mths old,two in May and she should have been her 3rd season late Feb - early March.Well she hasn't and no sign of it as yet.She hasn't had a silent season as she normally sulks and follows me around like an attatchment when she is in season. She also gets the runs and occasionally vomits too.She is in great health and form too.The first two seasons came like clockwork, bang on time.
In very early January I fostered 5 3 wk old Border Collie pups and hand reared them.I still have two - one male I'm keeping and one girl who I can't seem to re home. This was my Newfies first experience of pups (obviously as she is too young to have had any herself) and she took to them like a duck to water.
What I'm wondering is this - is it possible for the pups to have fooled her body into thinking she has had pups and therefore her seasons have been put off?If so when should I expect her to have a season? How long after pups does a bitch take to have another season? The pups are now 16 wks old.
There is no way I have missed her season and no way she could be pg as she is a hse dog and where she goes I go,if you get my meaning. And we have been aware that she is due her season and so have been watching her very carefully.
All comments appreciated
Many Thanx
