Had a fab time at the Scottish Breeds Show yesterday, admiring Gordon Setters and being tutored by a lovely lady called Sylvia who breeds them in Dorset and does the breed rescue. Ive now got a good idea of the lines and type of dog ( definitely a male for me) I want. Was warned they are very more-ish and spoil you for other breeds :) Will also have plenty time to lick Manic Morse into a Good Influence as the waiting lists for GS are very long, only about 300 registered annually compared with 50,000 Labs - thats really shocking! Amazed at how friendly and happy to talk GS people were given they were all competing and proabbly nervous. I take my hat off to the heavily pregnant girl who was showing Gordons accompanied by 2 little blonde babes in a double buggy, who managed to laugh when she found the GS were benched upstairs and there was no lift! She also gave me some good advice about having a GS with kids. Oh and I did help my pal with her trade stand too! Dog shows are more fun than I thought - surprise of the year!

PS Nutcase here bought Morse a very stylish black leather rolled collar and matching lead, after carefully measuring neck and collar. Now tried it on and it slips over his head without being undone really easily. Is this due to wrong size or the stiffness of the leather and how do I soften it?

Glad you enjoyed the show. Unfortunately we couldn't make it - one reason being our Gordon, Bess, is in season and would have created havoc amongst those handsome Gordon lads!!  ;)
She is 14 months now and I couldn't imagine a more affectionate and mischievious pet. Okay she's bossy, bouncy and overwhelms visitors but has a devoted fan club in our village.
Hope your wait for a gorgeous Gordon only enhances the pleasure when you finally get your pup.

Glad you enjoyed your first show.
As for the collar, i think it could be too big!

Tried collar on again and compared it to the one which fits him and find  I had it in the wrong hole DUH! Good job Bess gave the show a miss as there were some really handsome young dogs there and a very macho older dog. :)
