Hi there,
Just wondered if anyone could advise me on my wee girls behaviour. She was mated in November last year and had a puppy in January. She has been going back to her ringcraft classes for about 5 weeks now and her behaviour is completley different to what it used to be. Since having the puppy she doesn't like people touching her hind end and she also has a serious problem with male dogs, if they go near her hind end at all she becomes very aggressive towards them. She has always been really easy going and nothing would have phased her. I am worried that I have ruined her for showing by breeding from her. Has anyone else ever experienced this before or is there anything I can do to make her a bit more relaxed around dogs and in the ring.
Thanks for any help
Alli
Most mature bitches let dogs know, in no uncertain terms, that they don't like their rear ends sniffed so this is not unusual and you often find that dogs dance away then come back with their tails and heads high.
With humans though it is more worrying - was it a natural or "assisted" mating?
After making sure she has no physical problems it might be worth trying a desensitising programme with her with click and treats for allowing you to stand near her rear end gradually building to stroking, touching then starting with other people standing near her then stroking from the back down = involve other people that she knowa first and only when you are sure they will be safe.

Hi there
Thankyou for replying to my post.
The dog we used needed a bit of help so I would call it an assisted mating, but she was happy to stand as soon as penetration occured, there were no complaints from her throughout the 15 min tie and she seemed perfectly happy afterwards. It was not a complicated whelping and she has been a fabulous mum.I have to clarify something I said earlier, she is not aggressive towards humans she just likes to turn round and see who it is, it is only dogs she becomes aggressive towards. If you feel this is normal then you have put my mind at rest.
She is proving herself in the showring and we have been told that we have a very nice "specimen" of the breed. When we first bred her I would have liked a Dog pup for the showring but since we had another wee girl who we have kept, we would like to have another litter from her.
What is the likelyhood of her standing again if we decide to have another litter of puppies from her or will nature take it's course when she is in season again.
Thankyou once again for you advice

Don't worry about the boys mature girls do tell them off. As far as going over her is concerned whenever you are out walking get friends to stroke her all over and lots of fuss. Nothing else even at home stroke and fuss and gradually she will come back round.
Is there possibly though a tender area near her back end and could be the problem or is it just she doesn't like it?
