Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Cameras at show in the UK?

Is there any rule stopping you from taking and using your camera at a KC-affiliated show in the UK?

Here in Ireland it is my understanding that we cannot use our camera's at a show without the written permission of the IKC....but I don't understand the why's of this ruling, and I wondered if there was similar ruling with other KC's.

Cheers

As far as I know you are allowed to take any general photos (ie shots of the complete ring or a group of dogs), but if you want to take pictures of individual dogs you have to get the owner's permission.

I think (but I may well be recollecting incorrectly) that one or two of last years General Ch Show schedules/catalogues forbade photos/videoing without the prior agreement of the show society.  this we probably aimed at professional photographers, but was worded as a blanket instruction.  However, you see people with cameras and wideos all over the place, and some judges even take pics of their line ups.

There is a KC regulation regarding videoing, but as far as "stills" are concerned, one is only restricted by the regulations set out by the individual show, as described in the schedule, and, of course, basic English law. :)
