Dogs, honestly, how do they know the time of everything? Usually I walk Copper at 6am (not so bad now that its a bit warmer) and I wake up at 5.55am with a cold black nose pressed to mine. If I'm late I get scrabbled. Then I walk him around 11am before I go to work and he is sitting at the door tail wagging before I've even checked the clock.
Today I'm off work and walkie time has passed because I'm taking him out later. But since 11am he has been attached to my ankles or lying on the settee giving me "white eye" looks. Every time I move he's at the door like a bullet.
Surely dogs can't tell the time can they? They must have an in built timer because they seem to know exactly when its time to eat/walk/sleep etc. Better go and walk him I suppose :D

dogs obviously have their own internal clocks, i guess much like humans, if we eat at a particular time of day everyday then you find yourself getting hungry at that time.
My dad used to work shifts and the dog would wait for him in the mornings, but then when he switched to another shift and walk time changed it only took her a day or two to realise she walked at other times.
My brother also used to live up in manchester and she would be waiting by the door for him before he even called to say he was coming.... they say that dogs sense things before humans anyway, earthquakes etc

Same as above we had a dog that used to wait by the door at school home time, our girl now is used to being walked between 9am and 10am after that she is like a lost dog wandering round the house and she huffs or sighs lol.

LOL The internal clock was something that the breeder warned me about when we collected our basset...and boy, was she right :D
I work at home, but go into the offices once a week for a few hours...as this time approaches,(even before any clues she may pick up on, such as me putting my shoes on and collecting work files etc) Rosie sits at the front door for me to take her out...and then once we're back in....she goes straight to her treat cupboard and sits there waiting for the biscuit she gets left with as I leave the house !!
It is amazing isn't it. I knew they were clever little creatures, but obviously underestimated just how much so.

mine know when im going to work, and they play up something terrible as they are excited because they are going out. Also it doesnt matter what time i finish work, as i finish at all different times, my mum knows when i am due home as tess sits by the gate watching for me, the same when i go out, tess is always waiting by the gate when i get in, it isnt that she recognises the sound of the car either as i could come home in any manner of cars but shealways knows!

My BF used to get home at bout 7:15pm but when his shift changed to an 11:15 arrival, it took Kirra a few days before she quit sitting at the door whining from 7:15-7:30. Now if we are still up when he gets home, she sits looking out the window and when he pulls in, she franticly races for the door.If we have already gone to bed, when he gets home her tail starts thumping before he is even in the house. He always lets her have a little bit of a play time when he gets home and she doesn't let him get away with forgeting.

My Sibe boy knows when its time for breakfast. I always feed him and his mom between 7:00-7:15 each morning. If I'm running late and haven't fixed the food yet, he sits outside howling and throwing a fit until I bring him his dish. It really is amazing how it works. Sure, his stomach is telling him its time to eat, but he still knows its time though. =)
