I have a 3 week old puppy that appears to be leaking urine. The other 4 in the litter are all fine. I have her booked in to see the vet but I did a web search to see if I could find out what could be causing it. The only thing I have come up with is ectopic ureter. I'm hoping it isn't that but if it is does anyone have any personal experience of this condition, including how old they need to be for it to be operated on? Or has anyone had any experience of a puppy that leaked urine that wasn't this condition? I can't think that it's a UTI as surely she would be squatting to 'go' all the time, whereas she isn't - it's just the bladder dripping constantly.

There is a condition known as 'wet puppy'  but I have had no direct exerience of it, not much help but try a search

I laughed so much when I saw the site that my husband came up to see what was going on.  he thought it was gross, I almost wet myself laughing.  It reminded me of a Jerry Springer that was on with a guest called 'Diaper Bob', who wore nappies all day!  Uuuurrrrgghhhh!

The vet says that it's not an infection. He says that perhaps it's a reflex problem and to give her until she is about 12 weeks old and if it doesn't resolve itself by then it's probably an internal defect and he suggested having her PTS at 12 weeks if there is no change. :-(

I asked how many of these pups he had seen that have a leakage problem that has resolved itself and he says he has only ever seen this leakage problem once before in his career and that hadn't resolved itself (he must be about 60). So I don't have a lot of hope and the next 9 weeks are going to be hell and even harder by then to have her PTS. :-(
