Is it just me or are there a lot of male pups around? It may be the particular breed i am looking at, the Shelties but when i look on sites it seems theres always a few older male pups still available and the one we are going to look at on Saturday is male.
Is there any reason for this? My parents had a male sheltie and had no problem with him, so i dont know if its temprament or something? or is it that males are usually taken as stud dogs? and its difficult to get them 100% right so thats why they are left?
It also seems that a lot of people on here looking for pups of all breeds are looking for bitches

most people assume bitches make the better pet, but this is not always the story, males in particular breeds are more loyal and devoted, than bitches, who can be independant.
of course if you plan to breed you will need the bitch :)
i actually prefer male dogs! but i understand what you say most people want bitches. :D
well i dont mind whether i have bitch or dog as i have no intention of breeding and i've had both before, in fact if Saturday works out well i will be glad that the dogs get left behind hehe as it means we will have a pup thats ready to go, my only concern is that there is another reason as to why its the only pup left

but if you think about it, theres only one or two pups that you can guess will be right for your lifestyle, each person has a different lifestyle, so one that doesnt fit into one persons life, will fit perfectly into anothers, lol if that makes sense! :D
so if ones left, its not nessicarly cause theres something wrong with it etc, its probs cause that one wasnt right for someone else.
good luck with your pup!
Id love to see a pic when the little one comes home! xx

when we got our pup, we met them all before they were ready and the owner was keen for us to choose, but to be honest, they were all as lovely as each other, so if we had had last pup, he would still have been perfect to us. i couldn't have said one was better than his brothers and sisters.
