I hate my bank!!! It's just one thing after another. If I wasn't in the middle of buying a house I would shut down every account I have with them. When I moved about a year ago it took 3 letters, a visit to the bank with my passport to verify who I was and about 6 million phone calls to get them to finaly change my address. Then about 6 months later I realised that one of my accounts still hadn't been changed and that my business bank card and pin number had been sent to my old address. Now recently some one has skimmed my card and had about a £1000 out of my account. I cancelled the card and requested a new one, that was over a week ago. Today I rang the bank to see where my card was, and they said no card was on order!! AARRHHHH! So theifs are able to get at my money, but I can't! I have to wait another 6-7 working days before I get a new card. All the adverts say there is "another way"..... yeah.. it's called shuting down your accounts and joining another bank!!!!

I changed my Bank a few years ago because they didn't please me so I know where you re coming from. Why don't you go in and just threaten to close your accounts if they don't do what you want? You need to complain to the right person, though, or nothing will happen. Or even just threaten them with the Banking Ombudsman. They don't like that :D

I love my bank. I am with Natwest and I have my own Account Manager who is superb. One phone call and she sorts everything out. I have been with them for ten years and I have not had one problem with them :) I would never change :)

I went into my bank to do a large transfer to my dad and firstly she asked me where I got the money from???????
As if it was any of her business. THen she insinuated I was too young to be in possession of that kind of money and asked for 4 pieces of ID when the normal bank policy was only for 2. THen she asked me about 20 security questions, including which charities do I support by Direct Debit!!!!!
I was gobsmacked!

What annoyed me more than any thing was the fact I spoke to the woman in the fraud department whom I had spoken to last week. At the time we had a conversation and I asked her if I need to speak to any one else to get a new card ordered and she said no, she would request one for me. Today she said she did not remember having that conversation with me, so basicaly making out I was lieing! I don't think so!!! Maybe she genuinely forgot, I appreciate they must be busy, but why not just hold her hand up and say sorry, my fault, I forgot to do it. I could live with that, we all make mistakes, it's people that spend their time covering their own ars@s and who aren't man enough to admit their mistakes that make me mad!

When I uncovered a fraud at a friend's company some years ago, the person concerned had been forging signatures on company cheques - around a 100 cheques over a period of a couple of years

The company could not get any compensation from the bank - even though the forged signature was nothing like the real thing - because the bank said that 'they couldn't be expected to check every signature'

Hi all, I work for a high street bank as does my husband (he is a manager), Can i just say in defence that we ask for I.D to make sure that it IS your account,in this day and age you would be surprised on how far the fraudsters would go to get there hands on other people's money. If you did have money go from your account you would be the 1st in line to yell at us saying that we had not done our jobs properly, So have a thought for the cashier they are only doing there jobs.

Fraid that this is normal practice now with, not just banks, but businesses, because of new money laundering legislation :( It's a real pain, but they are forced to do it by the government for anybody transferring large amounts of money around. Anybody paying large bills in cash will also expect questions :) :)

I worked for a bank for 18 years (left 5 years ago). The changes that banks have seen over the past 7 years or so are incredible. The front line staff have my sympathy. Very little of the day to day work is done in the branches anymore so they very little control over it. Most of the work (even changing addresses, ordering cards etc) is done outside and because of this the branch staff are stuck. It's very awkward for them when things go wrong..............................Apparently it's progress !!.
