I got told that people show there border collies on a full fine silver choke chain, is this still alright as when looking at the collies in the last show i went to they seem to be shown on the half check cobination sets.  I want to get a show set for my collie but what do i go for how do i measure his neck and what colour.  My collie is blk/white would it be better to get him a colour or just stay with black leather.  Thankyou.

First of all you show the dog on a lead that you AND the dag are happy on.  I know that border collies used to have fine (normally silver) chains which is still ok.  Half checks again are ok, black or white witha silver chain would be best, your you could go for a full leather black one or white one.

I have aussie shepherds which one has a black leather lead (black tri) one has a fine silver shain with a black lead (black tri) and one has a brown leather lead (red tri) They each have a lead that suits them best and which I also like.

Go for what your happy with because if yuo and the dog arn't comfortable then its no good!

Hi the majority of border collies are shown on black leather leads with either a silver chain or leather half check. The idea is that they do not detract from the outline of the dog and are strong enough to move them on while being comfortable. But as Roxanne says it is also what you feel confident and comfortable using. HTHGillian
