Unfortunately it looks like Darcy and I are about to become members of the Hip Dysplasia club.

The vets tried to rotate DArcys hips last night and she growled at them, and she's never growled at anybody before EVER.

She has also started running with her back legs together (in the hopping motion everyone talks about).

So it's not looking good, she's going into to be xrayed next week!

On a slightly lighter note though she met her first bird of prey in the vets last night and it screeched at her and she jumped up into my lap and hid her head under my arm! What a wimp!!!

Sorry to hear that Rachael - how old is Darcy now? Let's hope she's not too badly affected.

she's only 15 months at the moment.

She doesnt seem to be in too much pain when running about, when she's other dogs she acts like a right looney which I'm hoping I wont have to stop her doing as she enjoys it so much.

oh thats a relief, was it just the medication that sorted him out or did you have to do anything else??

hydrotherpy i think, really built up his mucsles, he had all the common herbal remedies as well, but i really believe in the swimming. he still goes now, i was going to cut him back once he was "sorted", but he really loves it so we do a hour a week! well at least he gets clean!!!

Sasha my GSD was diagnosed with very bad hip dysplasia and arthritis at 20 months.
(had her x-rayed when she was speyed). She goes hydrotherapy swimming, and I give her green lipped mussel tabs, and Omega 3 fish oil caps. She sometimes walks with her brother and they have a mad time together. She's walked for aout 2 hours in a morning, and an hour later on in the day. You wouldn't think that there is anything wrong with her to see her, although she sometimes does have a limp. She loves the swimming and it is helping to keep her weight off. Hope your dog's x-rays are good news.
